Question: I was just terminated from work and I was on FMLA, I’ve had problems at work of unfair treatment leading up to filing for FMLA. After getting approved I was verbal warned then got my first written warning. I got no help from HR. Can they do this?



Response: There is a lot that goes into terminating an employee, there is not enough detail in your question to be able to give you a proper response to your question.  I would advise that if you feel you have been mistreated you contact your local Department of Labor office and explain what happened and see if they feel you have been mistreated.  They know the federal law and any state laws that might apply, and have vast esperience in dealing with this sort of thing.  You have the right to file a complaint and they will let you know how the process works to do that if you feel you must.
